This year’s docent bus trip was a great success! It included a tour of lower Manhattan, from 9th Ave. to the East River, and the Tenement Museum
The Park Avenue Armory was amazing with its extensive  and elaborate restoration, which included the original early works of Tiffany.
See a WNET video about the Armory here: Click Here!
This trip alone is a good reason to become a docent.  Volunteers are always needed.
It requires very little time, less than 2 hours a day two days a month, June through October.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in history  and want to be part of the Heritage Association, please contact Harriet Milsten at 631-472-2118.

Carole Pichney is to be congratulated for all the research and planning she did in arranging this educational event.

Steven Jones of the L.I. Maritime Museum will present an overview of the museum’s buildings, exhibits and events.

Please note: this meeting will be held Saturday evening October 19, at 7:00 PM in the Bayport-Blue Point Library Community Room.

See their website HERE
‘About Us’ information, from their website:
“Since 1968, the Banjo Rascals have been delighting audiences of all ages with a variety of distinctive toe-tapping music. Our music ranges from 1890s Ragtime to 1950s, 60’s and 70s rock- n- roll. …
We encourage sing-a-longs …
The Banjo Rascals then heat things up with Hot Dixieland standards …
The diversity of the musicians in the Banjo Rascals does not stop with songs of the Roaring 20s! Arrangements of 20’s – 30’s swing songs and Big Band Era hits … are all within the repertoire of the Banjo Rascals.
Add a hot lead guitar and songs of Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and June Carter, Emmy Lou Harris and many others will make you feel like you’re in the heart of Nashville. The Banjo Rascals transform into the Country Rascals before your eyes playing mandolin, guitar, banjo, and string bass and of course wearing 10-gallon hats……”
