Bayport & Blue Point

Two Towns, One Community

The Bayport-Blue Point Heritage Association was founded in 1983 and continues to be an active organization with over 300 members. Our mission is to preserve Bayport and Blue Point’s history by collecting and maintaining historical information on the towns, their people, and buildings.

Our hard work has restored Meadow Croft, the summer estate of John Ellis Roosevelt – first cousin to Theodore Roosevelt – into a historic museum located on the grounds of Suffolk County’s Sans Souci Park. The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays anytime between 2pm-4pm, June through October.  Stop in at your convenience.

MORE ABOUT BBPHA

The President of The BBPHA, Mary Bailey, says ‘Hello…from Meadow Croft’ as she gives us a virtual tour of the former summer estate of John Ellis Roosevelt.

Meadow Croft After Hours Presents

Tavern Night with
Diane Schwindt

Historic Tavern Cook & Educator

Sat, Aug 8

6-8pm

In the Carriage House at Meadow Croft

Diane Schwindt is the resident cook at the historic Ketcham Inn of Center Moriches. She is focused on all components of colonial life on Long Island. Diane will be presenting on how taverns were vital to a community, showing different tools and materials that were authentic to the time. Come with your appetite since Diane will be sharing samples of the famous George Washington cake, as well as honey mead.

Signature Drink of the Evening: Gin Rickey

Enjoy a refreshing drink that dates back to the 1900’s. While originally made with bourbon or whiskey, it received its name after gin was being made in bathtubs during prohibition, which made it easier to come by. A gin rickey starts with nice cold gin followed by some citrusy lime juice, topped off with club soda and a lime garnish. Non-alcoholic drinks will also be served.

Diane has been featured in the magazine Edible, as well as in Newsday and on News12. She is a wealth of knowledge and will be leaving time for questions.

Tickets will be available for purchase online here starting Aug 1 for $35, and limited to 30 people.
