This month’s speaker is Monica Musetti-Carlin. She is a journalist from Sayville and has worked for the Suffolk County News for the past 14 years in marketing and advertising. She will be presenting a talk and demonstration surrounding the autumn apple harvest and will be serving her signature applesauce and applesauce cake. Both recipes appear in her book: 
COUNTRY COMFORT: HARVEST.

Tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds go to the Bayport Heritage Association.
You can buy the tickets beginning October 1st, at the following locations:

Featuring unique homes in Bayport and Blue Point of historical and architectural significance.
Antique cars will be on display at all locations.
Please note that, out of respect for the homeowners, children under 12, high heels, food or drink and cameras will not be allowed.
Refreshments will be served at Meadow Croft.
Additional antique cars will be displayed.

Former local resident Jack Waterfall, along with Jack Licitra, Sydney Swinson, Corey Swinson and Nick Russell will play a world-beat jam session.

Dinner at The Pier Restaurant.
Cost $60 for BHA members, $80 for non-members.

Boarding will begin at 5:30pm at the Sayville Ferry Terminal on Brown’s River.

Only 115 tickets will be sold. Mail checks to Diana Walch, 121 Barton Lane, Bayport to be received no later than July 22. 
Include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Tickets will be mailed to you.
Limited parking is available so car pooling is encouraged. 
This cruise is not suitable for children.
Ferry departs at 6:00pm SHARP so don’t miss the boat.

Attention Gardeners:  The garden is waking up and we are in need of volunteers to help maintain the Meadow Croft Garden as spring arrives.  All you “Green Thumbs” and those of you who don’t have green thumbs but are willing to help, please give Diana Walch a call at 631-472-1898. Perhaps you know some young people who need to perform some community service requirement.

Docents Needed: The association is in need of docents at Meadow Croft. It requires very little time, less than 2 hours a day two days a month, June through October. If you or someone you know is interested in history please have then contact Harriet Mihlstin at 631-472-2118.

The Sayville Historical Society will be hosting a program entitled,
 Let there be Light.

 A presentation about lighting fixtures from whale oil lamps to electricity, this program will be presented by lighting historian and collector, Erich Haesche.

Mr. Haesche will exhibit and demonstrate lighting fixtures ranging from rush lights and candles, to oil and gas lamps as well as early electric lamps and bulbs.

Joe Novak retired teacher and wood carver will present a program and slide show about the Teddy Roosevelt, the Rancher.

We all know about Teddy Roosevelt the politician and Teddy Roosevelt the leader of the Rough Riders, but how much do you know about Teddy Roosevelt the cowboy?
 After his first wife died, Teddy traveled west and became a rancher. 

Come learn about this part of his life from Joe Novak. 

Also discussed, the Teddy Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.
